In accordance with your application dated July 8,1982, and pursuant to Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 70, Materials License No. SN!1-1097 is hereby amended to authorize disposal of uranium-bearing zirconium sludge, subject to the following condition:
The licensee shall establish controls to ensure that all freestanding liquids are absorbed prior to the disposal of the uranium-bearing zirconium sludge at the SCA Services, Inc., facility in Pinewood, South Carolina.
Sufficient absorbent shall be used so that the radioactive material concentration does not exceed 30 pC1/ gram of dry absorbent.
All other conditions of this license shall remain the same.
The above license condition was discussed with and agreed to by your Mr. Vaughan and Mr. Bidinger of my staff on July 15, 1982.
The license amendment does not exempt General Electric Company from any requirements for a state or local government agency disposal permit.
