This letter refers to the safety inspection conducted by Dr. Jason C. Jang of this office on
October 18-22, 1993, of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. DPR-44 and DPR-56 at
. Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Units 2 and 3, Delta, Pennsylvania and to the
~
discussions of our findings held by Dr. Jang with Mr. G. Edwards and other members of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection included your radioactive liquid and gaseous effluent
control programs and are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed
with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of
procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
j
inspector.
!
Within the scope of this inspection, we noted that the Chemistry Department staff had
excellent knowledge of the radioactive liquid and gaseous effluent control programs. We
also noted that management provided excellent support, enabling the upgrade of the effluent-
i
radiation monitoring systems. No safety concerns or violations of NRC requirements were -
identified.
