THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS FACILITY (EOF)
Via letter dated A aril 18, 1990, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G)-
requested approva to relocate the Einergency Operations Facility (EOF). However, based on discussions with NRC staff personnel, SCE&G understands that it is not deemed acceptable by the NRC to relocate the EOF beycmd a twenty mile distance from the plant. SCE&G disagrees with this decision. SCE&G's intention in recommending the relocation was to satisfy a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommendation. Since the NRC will not approve a relocation of the EOF, SCE&G is in a position of not being able to satisfy one of the federal agencies involved in this matter. Therefore, SCE&G has made a decision not to pursue relocation of the FOF and accordingly withdraws the original request.
Your efforts in addressing this issue are greatly appreciated. SCE&G will be working with FEMA to resolve their recommendation in regard to the relocation of the Media i
Center.
