Response to Inspection No. 82-04
Dear Sir:
Reference is rade to IEE Inspection No. 50-29/82-04 conducted by your Mr. T. Foley on April 13-19, May 6-7, and May 19-28,1982 a t the Yankee Atomic Electric Company Nuclear Power Station in Powe, Massachusetts. The report made subsequent to that inspection identified one item that apparently was not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements.
In accordance with Section 2.201 of the NRC's " Rules and Practices", Part 2, Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations, we hereby submit the following information:

Technical Specification 6.12, High Padiation area, requires that each I
high radiation area be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation j
area and entrance thereto be controlled by the issuance of a Fadiation Work Permit.
Contrary to the above, on May 6, 1982, a high radiation area within the Waste Disposal Building was not barricaded or posted as a high radiation area when approached from the exterior of the building, and the entrance thereto was not controlled.
Response
As stated in the inspection report, personnel were involved in transfer of radioactive material bett.een storage areas. For short periods of time, the entrance was not properly posted.

When personnel were notified of the violation by the inspector, the area was properly posted. Personnel involved with the evaluation were reinstructed in the impertance of posting requirements.
Corrective Steps To Be Taken:
The requirements of Fasting of High Fadiation Areas will be emphasized to the plant staf f in the General Plant Training on Fadiation Protection which is scheduled in July, 1982.
Date When Full Compliance Was Achieved:
Full compliance was achieved on May 6, 1982, at the time the inspector brought the item to the attention of personnel on the job.
