This letter forwartis the final 7MI-1 SMP Report (Enclosure 1) for the
pericd from January 16, 1989 to May 15, 1990. Our overall assessment is
that you ard your staff cont 1nue to operate TMI Unit 1 in an excellent
manner.
Effective management attention and involvement oriented toward
nuclear safety in all functional areas was note:1.
Ne reviewed your August 30, 1990, SMP wi..=(a (Enclosure 2) . Based on
a review of your wi..aita, several changes were made to more accurately
characterize your plans for installation of an advanced control system,
your action in response to the steam generator tube leak unusual event,
and to vw.wct other minor discrepancies. These changes have been
sunnarized in an errata sheet that is incitded as Enclosure 4.
'Ihis SAIP evaluation was dim-i with you in an August 13, 1990,
mootim at the 7MI-1 site (meeting atterriaan are listed in Enclosure 3).
The initial SMP Report was forwartled to you by my August 3,1990 letter.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in the
SMP process is appreciated.
