Areas Inspected:

Reactive, announced physical security inspection involving

review of an inadequate search that resulted in the introduction of an

unauthorized item in protected area .

In addition, the integrity of a

protected area barrier was reviewed based on previous observations made by a

resident inspector.

'

-

Results: One apparent violation regarding a failure to adequately search a

hand-carried item was identified. This failure resulted in the introduction

of an unauthorized item into the protected area. The protected area barrier

system was determined to meet minimum plan requirements and was therefore

acceptable.

l

Inspection results showed that management's attention and involvement in

l

responding to the apparent violation described in this report was good.

Management understood the security and safety implication of the apparent

l

violation. A thorough and technically sound root cause analysis was conducted
