Dear Mr. Parker.:
FUBJECT: TERMINATION OF LICENSE SNM-910 FOR RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE As a follow-up to the phone conversation between you and Mr. Donald Joy of my staff, this is to confirm that the subject license has been withdrawn, as requested by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), because their special nuclear material holdings are below 350 grams and the New York State Materials license No. 1035 is the appropriate licensing vehicle under the state agreement system.
As a result of this action, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is discontinuing l
its regulatory oversight of RPI in all matters relating to radioactive material safety and safeguards, including any future decommissioning activities and financial assurance for decommissioning; thus RPI is no longer subject to NRC regulations.
