August 23, 1993 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 Mr. Jerry W. Yelverton Vice President, Operations AN0 Entergy Operations, Inc.

Route 3 Box 137G Russellville, Arkansas 72801

Dear Mr. Yelverton:

SUBJECT:

FOLLOWUP ACTIONS ON REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97, ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, i

UNITS 1 AND 2 (ANO-l&2) (TAC NOS. M84194 AND M84195)

By letter dated July 24, 1992, Entergy Operations, Inc. provided the results of a further review on the remaining design and qualification criteria contained in Table 1 of Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 3, but not previously addressed in your response to Generic Letter 82-33 (NUREG-0737, Supplement 1).

This review was the result of a supplemental action you committed to in response to NRC Inspection Report 90-11, dated May 14, 1990.

The NRC staff has completed its review of your July 24, 1992 letter and earlier related submittals. The staff finds that the ANO-l&2 design is either in conformance with, or justified in deviating from, the guidance of Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 3, for each post-accident monitoring variable.

Our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.

Sincerely, ORIGINAL SIGNED BY THOMAS W. ALEXION FOR:
