Dear Mr. Dillon:
I am responding to your letter of July 21, 1993, to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in which you expressed concerns regarding the impact of i
flooding on evacuation routes for Union Electric's Callaway plant during an j
emergency.
l I understand that your concern is specifically with County Road 469 and the creek that occasionally floods the road.
You stated that this road is the only exit route available to you during an emergency at Callaway.
l The NRC has contacted the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and i
forwarded your concerns regarding County Road 469.
FEMA has the responsibility for reviewing the adequacy of State and local emergency preparedness plans and their capability to be implemented.
The NRC staff has also discussed this issue with the Union Electric Company and understand that they are cooperating with State and local officials who are considering this matter.
