(a) Letter from M. Ray (TVA) to the U.S. NRC dated April 24, 1990 On March 20,1990, the NRC issued Bulletin 90 02, " Loss of Thermal Margin Caused by Chennel Box Bow,* to all holders of operating licenses for nuclear power reactors. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) responded to Bulletin 90.02 with reference (a).
In their response TVA confirined that the Browns ferry Nucicar (BFN) Plant, Units 1, 2, and 3, does not use channel boxes for a second bundle lifetime. Consequently, the provisions cf Bulletin 90 02 are not tpplicabic. The NRC staff has reviewed reference (e) and concludes that no further 6ction by TVA it warranted.
However, should TVA recent their present position the staff would expect then to conform fully to Eulletin 90-02.
