Response to NRC Followup Procurement inspection of August, 1989 Gentlemen:
This letter provides Maine Yankee's response to inspection Report No 89-82, Reference (1).
In that report, the NRC identified several weaknesses in our procurement programs associated with countercial grade items to be used in safety class applications, for completeness, we have restated the identified weaknesses and have provided our response.

Maine Yankee RMponsg Procedure 0-071 MATERI AL RECE!PT. was modified on February 20, 1990 to address the revised dedication process. Highlights of this revision, Attachment 1, include:
1.
Defining critical characteristics ar.d dedication (see Steps 2.4.4 and 2.4.5, respectively).
2.
Establishing a one for one tie between the critical characteristic and verification therlof (see Step 6.1.3.b and Attachment D).
3.
Establishing the administrative controls for on site and off-site testing (see Section 6.8).
