SUBJECT:

NRC BULLETIN 90 02 (TAC 76353) . VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION NRC Bulletin 90 02, " Loss of Thermal Margin Caused by Box Bow," dated March 20, 1990, was issued to request that licensees determine whether any channel boxes are being reused after their bundle lifetime and, if so, to ensure that the effects of channel box bow on the critical power ratio are properly taken into account.

By letter dated April-27, 1990, Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation responded to this bulletin and stated that Vermont Yankee does not presently use channel boxes incore for longer than one bundle lifetime. Any future reuse of channels for a second-bundle lifetime would be evaluated to ensure that the <

effects of channel box bow on the critical power ratio (CPR) are properly taken into account.
