Dear Mr. Barton:
During the fire protection meeting held at the TMI-2 site on June 4,1982, the TMIPO staff agreed to provide GPU with a letter that would clarify the applicability to THI-2 of correspondence forwarded by the NRC to other licensees (including THI-1) on a final submission date of July 1,1982 4
for all Appendix R exemption information. After reviewing your original exemption letter dated March 24, 1981, and our response dated May 7,1981, in which the NRC requests a revised Fire Hazards Analysis before a decision on Appendix R applicability is made, we have concluded that the July 1,1982 date does not apply to TMI-2 We have also recently received your revised analysis and Fire Protection Program Evaluation dated June 18,1982 (4400-82-L-0102) and will review the package in consideration of your Appendix R request. The staff will then either approve your Appendix R exemption or request additional information.
