Dear Sir:

[

Subject:

Docket No. 50-361

) Written Confirmation of Prompt Reportable Occurrences Licensee Event Report Nos. 82-24 and 82-25 i

"an Onofro Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 2 i in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.1.12.b, this submittal confirms the June 11, 1982 prompt Telephone notification to A.E. Chaffee, l NRC Resident inspector, of two reportable occurrences involving the l Auxiliary Feedwater System (AFWS) at San Onof re Unit 2.

t The reportable occurrences are associated with the Unit entry into l Mode 3 on June 6, 1982 and operation for greater than 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
with less l than the required number of Auxiliary Feedwater trains, based on the inoperability of bbtor Operated Valve 2HV 4713 in the discharge line of Auxiliary Feedwater Motor Driven Pump P-141. Further review of this matter has identified the possibility that the June 11, 1982 prompt notification was not necessary based on appropriate actions being taken with the trains as prescribed in the Technical Specifications following declaration of valve inoperability.

Our review of this matter is continuing. In the event that the invest-igation shows the valve, and consequently Pump P-141, inoperable during !

! the time period in question, separate Licensee Event Reports will be submitted. LER 82-024, covering the Mode change while in an Action a

! Statement, would be due June 21, 1982. LER 82-025, discussing the failure to recognize that two Auxiliary Feedwater trains were simultan-eously inoperable, would be due June 23, 1982.
