Ms. E. C. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4 Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369, 50-370
Dear Mr. Denton:
The purpose of this letter is to clarify several items in the license amendment request dated June 22, 1982. Attachment 1 is a listing of hardware associated with the upgraded meteorological system requested by the NRC Licensing Project M:1 nager for McGuire. This list includes the major equipment necessary to accom-plish the system upgrade. As can be seen from the attached tabic, several pieces of equipment associated with data processing have been received and in several cases have been installed. Most of the meteorological sensing equipment, however, is still on order and is scheduled for delivery in September 1982.
All of the work to date has been performed with less than clear guidance from the NRC.
Duke Power Company submitted a description of the proposed meteorolog-ical system on December 21, 1981 and requested an expedited review of this system.
No comments have been received from the Staff to date; however, Duke proceeded with the procurement activities without the benefit of NRC comments. Other items that have been accomplished include (1) development of logic for Class A Model and (2) installation of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) severe weather warning system.
In summary, Duke Power Company has expended considerable effort over the past 18 months in the development and installation of the upgraded meteorological system. The schedule proposed for completion of the system in my letter of June 22, 1982 represents our best estimate at this time. Picase advise if there are further questions regarding this matter.
Ver, truly yours,
