This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. W. J. Slawinski and Ms. E. R. Matson of this office on May 10-13, 1982, of activities at Monsanto Research Corporation-Dayton Laboratory authorized by NRC Material License No. SNM-567 and to the discussion of our findings with you and your staff at the conclusion of the inspection and to the telephone conversation with Edward Janzow on May 21, 1982.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in non-compliance with NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed Appendix.
The inspection showed that action had been taken to correct the identified noncompliance and to prevent recurrence. Consequently, no reply to this noncompliance is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter at this time.
