We have completed our review of the Degraded Grid Protection for Class IE Power Systems for the Zion Station, Unit Nos.1 and 2 Our Safety Evaluation and our contractor's Technical Evaluation Report are enclosed.
Our review was based on the Commonwealth Edison Company submittals dated July 27,1977, as supplemented June 26, 1980, October 1,1980, and May 5, 1982. As stated in our Safety Evaluation, we find the electrical systems design modification and draft Technical Specifications, as contained in your May 5,1982 letter, to be acceptable. The Zion Stations should proceed with the modifications to be completed during the refueling outages beginning with Unit 2 in the spring of 1983 Following the installation, the formal Technical Specification changes request should be made to the NRC.
