Appendix NOTICE OF VIOLATION Toledo Ediscn Docket No. 50-346 As a result of the inspection conducted on March 3-14, 1982, and in accord-ance with the NRC Enforcement Policy, 47 FR 9987 (March 9, 1982), the following violation was identified:
10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion XII requires that measures shall be estab-lished to assure that tools, gauges, instruments, and other measuring and testing devices used in activities affecting quality are properly controlled, calibrated, and adjusted at specified periods to maintain accuracy within
.necessary limits.
Contrary to the above, hydrometers used to measure the specific gravity of electrolyte in safety-related batteries and rotameters used for containment local leak rate measurement were not calibrated (accuracy checked) at speci-fled periods or prior-to-use to verify accuracy was within necessary limits.
This is a Severity Level V violation (Supplement I).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice a written state-ment or explanation in reply, including for each item of noncompliance:
(1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further noncompliance; and (3) the date when full com-pliance will be achieved.
Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
