7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 50-219 GPU NUCLEAR CORPORATION AND JERSEY CENTRAL POWER & LIGHT COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO PROVISIONAL OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 61 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-16, issued to GPU Nuclear Corporation and Jersey Central Power & Light Company (the licensees), which revised the Technical Specifications for operation of the Gyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station (the facility) located in

Ocean County, New Jersey. The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.
This amendment authorizes a one time only change to Section 1.12, Definition of Refueling Outage, to extend the time between successive tests of surveillances, prior to cycle 10 only, from not exceeding 20 months to not exceeding 30 months.
The application for the amendment complies with the standards and requirements of th'e Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appro-
.priate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment. Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
