Dear Mr. DeYoung:
On May 18, 1981, Brown & Root, Inc. provided the fluelear Regulatory Comninnion (!!RC ) written notification of the following three (3) itema determined to be reportable purcuant to 10CFH21:
1.
Diesel Generator Fuel Oil Storage Tank Room Fan Motor Qualification 2.
Ennential Cooling Water Gantry Crane Tornado Decign 3
Emergency Sump Recirculation Piping Overstress Additionally, on May 12, 1981, Brown & Root provided written notification per 10CFR21 of a problem with the design of the HVAC syntem for the Mechanical-Electrical Auxiliary Building and the Fuel Handling Building.
A cupplemental report on HVAC nyctem design was provided to the !!RC on June 30, 1981.
All four of the above itema involved design work performed by Brown & Root for the South Texac Project, Unit.a 1 and 2.
These itenn were alno reported to the IIRC by Haunton Light,ing & Power Company pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e).
In order to close out the four items reported under Part 21, Brown & Root committed to completing certain corrective actions a:, presented in our reports and was per-forr;ing the work necennary to fulfill our conmitments con-cictent with project schedules.
On September 24, 1981, Houston Lighting & Power Company removed Brown & Root ac the engineer of the South Texas Project.
Since that date, Brown & Root hac been enraged in activities to statun and trancrer our engineerint work to Pechtel Power Corporation, the new enrineer for the South Texas Project.
