SUBJECT:
Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 IE Inspection Report Nos. 81-21 and 81-25
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Florida Power Corporation (FPC) has received and reviewed your confirmatory action letter of March 10, 1982. The actions that FPC will undertake are as stated in that letter, i.e.,
your understanding of FPC's actions is the same as our understanding. Those actions are:
1.
Verify operability of fire dampers and perform subsequent inspections of safety-(
related dampers and fire doors in accordance with our existing procedures.
l 2.
If any fire door or damper is found to be inoperable, the following action will be I
taken:
a.
Establish a continuous fire watch on at least one side of the affected fire door or damper within one hour.
i b.
The continuous fire watch is to be maintained until such time that the inoperable fire door or damper is repaired.
3.
Continue the above actions until the amended technical specifications have been approved by NRR. Changes to the above actions will have prior concurrence by NRC Region 11 prior to implementation.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Ril Page May 27,1982 In discussions with NRR, it was decided that FPC would not apply for any fire protection technical specification change until the Appendix R review for CR-3 was completed. The above actions will be performed by FPC until those changes are approved by NRR.
