Dear Mr. Keppler:
On March 5,1982, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). Pullman Construction Industries', Inc.
(PCI) shop issued a report under 10 CFR 21 identifying that certain fillet welds had been omitted from heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) ductwork stiffeners. Some of this ductwork has been delivered to the site by PCI.
Review of this condition by the plant designer, Sargent & Lundy, indicates that some of the ductwork will require the presence of the missing weld to perform adequately. PSI has therefore instructed PCI to complete the welds as originally designed.
For ductwork previously delivered to the site the welds will be repaired during the erection process.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of a final report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e).
