Dear Mr. Seidle:
This letter provides an interim report on a 10CFR50.55(e) matter con-cerning post accident errors in the reactor coolant wide range pressure instruments. This item is also the qubject of Information Notice No. 82-11.
Westinghouse has determined that the post accident inaccuracies of the subject instruments constitute a significant deficiency because the design does not conform to the criteria and bases stated in our Final Safety Analysis Report.
In particular, the accuracy functional require-ments for Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 1, are not demonstrated to be satisfied by the current instrumentation.
A thoi augh evaluation of this issue is in progress to determine and analyze possible solutions.
It is anticipated that it will be several months before this issue can be resolved for Wolf Creek Generating Station.
The status of this evaluation will be reported to you on or before November 4,
1982.
