Regulators often fail to pmvide the managers of companies they regulate with appropriate recognition in safety related areas in which a good job was done.
This type of recognition seems to me to be particularly appropriate in situaticas where some companies performed exceptionally well in relation to other companies.
In that vein, we are pleased to note that your organization tock the initiative and installed the early warning public notification system at the Hatch Nuclear Plant in a timely manner, so as to meet the initially requiced due date of July 1. 1981. As you are aware the overall effectiveness tests of these systems st1111 await the development of criteria by the Federal Emergency Management Agency; however, the above accomplishment is certainly noteworthy in that many other companias did not meet that date. Several companies still have not coupleted installation of the required system.
Although we're still looking forward to the completion of the overall upgrading of your emergency preparedness program, your actions in the area of the public notification system reflect credit on your organization. Your continuing efforts in this ama are certainly in the public's interest.
