Subject:
Crystal River Unit 3 Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 Reactor Building Spray Additive System Drawdown Test
Dear Mr. Denton:
On December 4,1981, Florida Power Corporation received Amendment No. 46 to the Crystal River Unit 3 Technical Specifications. Among other items, Amendment No. 46 eliminated Surveillance Requirement 4.6.2.2.d, which was intended as a flow verification test for the Reactor Building Spray Additive System. The requirement v'as eliminated because it performed no meaningful verification.
Florida Power Corporation was requested, within 90 days of the Amendment, to provide an alternative periodic surveillance plan to determine the capability of the Spray Additive System to deliver the required flow to the Reactor Building Spray System.
Florida Power Corporation has contracted to evaluate and recommend alternatives to satisfy this request. Preliminary results of these evaluations are expected to be complete this month, and final resolution is anticipated by October 1,1982.
Your concurrence with this schedule is requested. Should there be any questions, please contact this office.
Very truly yours, N
