Dear Mr. Engelken:
This letter describes a reportable occurrence involving two integrally welded pipe supports in the feedwater system at San Onofre Unit 1.
This report is made in accordance with section 6.9.2a of Appendix A to the Provisional Operating License DPR-13.
During the performance of a scheduled Inservice Inspection, a visual examination revealed failed attachment welds on feedwater system pipe support
- 1-KBG-391-1 and #1-KBG-393-1.
These supports are located on the feedwater inlet lines to steam generators E1C and EIA respectively.
Our investigation of this event is still in progress. A complete report of this matter together with a Licensee Event Report will be forwarded within 14 days.
