On May 9, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc.
(PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). This item, which pertains to the operation of centrifugal charging pumps during a high energy line rupture, was described in an interim report to your office dated June 2, 1980.
Westingfdusehasproposedanequipmentmodificationwhichwillresolve this cencern. At the present time, Byron Station, of which Marble 11111
, is a replicate, is evaluating a similar modification. PSI will therefore withhold any decision on the Westinghouse proposal until after the Byron Station has completed its evaluation.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before August 30, 1982. If you have any questions on this matter, please feel free to contact me.
