GLKoester, KGE, to GLMadsen, flRC Subj: Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report - Terminal Lugs in Main Control Panels, Auxiliary Relay Racks and Local Control Stations

Dear Mr. Seidle :

On January 26, 1982, a telephone report was made to Mr. W.A. Crossman regarding suspect crimped terminal lugs in the main control panels at Wolf Creek Generating Station. The above-referenced letter provided an interim report on this pot.ential 10CFR50.55(e) item. On April 1, 1982, a telephone report was made to Mr. R.E. Hall advising that additional suspect crimped terminal lugs have been found in the auxiliary relay racks and local control stations furnished by the same vendor. During this telephone report it was agreed that these additional suspect lugs would be included in the 10CFR50.55(e) report.

A rework plan has been developed for the main control panels, auxiliary relay racks and local control stations. This plan includes an inspection and replacement, if necessary, of all lugs used in the safety-related circuits in question.

To this date we have not established whether or not the imperfectly crimped lugs, if left uncorrected, would have significantly affected safety.

The status of this rework program or a final report will be submitted on or before August 5, 1982. In the interim, please direct any questions on this matter to me or to Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff.

Yours very truly, u; a / >
