Subject:
Request for Additional Information - Limerick Spent Fuel WTiesign The Chemical Engineering Branch has reviewed your response to item 282.1, as contained in FSAR Rev. 5.
The response notes that the spent fuel pool design has been changed to a high density storage type and that Sec. 9.1.2 of the FSAR will be revised in the third quarter of 1982 to reflect this design change.
The information provided in your response to item 282.1 is insufficient to complete our evaluation of the high density storage pool. Therefore, the revised Sec. 9.1.2 should contain the following information:
1.
A description of the poison material, i.e. size, thickness, material components or composition.
2.
A description of the method of encapsulation of the poison materials and the thickness of the encapsulation material.
3.
A description of the poison material cavity venting design.
Describe the location of any vents for the cavity.
4.
A description of any materials monitoring program for the pool.
To maintain the current schedule, the revised FSAR Section 9.1.2, including the above information, must be available for review by September 30, 1982.
Any questions concerning this request should be directed to Dr. Harvey Abelson (301) 392-9774, the Licensing Project Manager.
Sincerely, 8206100425 820604 A. Schwencer, Chief Licensing Branch flo. 2 PDR ADOCK 05000 Division of Licensing A
