Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
DEFECTIVE CUTLER-HAMER, TYPE M RELAYS WITH DC COILS IE BULLETIN 78-06 M
By letter Serial No. 449, dated August 4,1978, we indicated that we had not comptsted our review of the captioned bulletin for North Anna Units 3 and 4.
During the North Anna 3 and 4 Coal Coversion Study, this bulletin was placed in our " Delay File".
We have recently mopened our review of this bulletin. We have completed our review for all safety-mlated equipment, except that supplied by Bailey Controls, and have detemined that none of it uses the subject relays.
We am pmsently consideriag upgrading and/or mplacing the Bailey equipment. Themfore, we plan to defer our review of the Bailey equipnent until a decision is made on the extent of its actual use on North Anna 3.
We will submit a final report on this matter at that time.
As we stated in our previous letter, all futum orders for North Anna 3 will specify that the use of these_ relays is unacceptable.
