Dear Mr. Seidle:
This letter provides an update on the status of evaluation and dis-position of nonconforming Rockbestos cable which was delivered to Wolf Creek Generating Station as described in the Reference.
Test results from one reel of the 7/C #14 AWG cable have been evaluated and the cable was rejected because of failing to meet conductor jacket specification requirements. However, the conductor and insulation of the rejected cable were satisfactory. The Architect / Engineer (A/E) has not fully evaluated these results to determine if the deviation from test acceptance criteria is significant in relation to the cable's ability to perform its safety function.
There are a total of four suspect reels of 7/C #14 AWG cable on site.
Only the one reel mentioned above was included in the original tests.
Therefore, additional samples representing the three remaining reels were sent to the manufacturer for testing. The additional tests have been completed and the results have been forwarded to the A/E for evaluation and disposition.
The status of the evaluation and disposition of the cable will be reported to your office on or before August 12, 1982.
