Summer Nuclear Station - Unit 1 NRC Docket No. 50-395 - Construction Permit Extension
Dear Mr. Denton:
On November 26, 1980, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company on behalf of itself and as agent for the South Carolina Public Service Authority, being holders of Construction Permit No. CPPR-94 (issued March 21, 1973, and amended January 30, 1979, to extend the completion date from January 1, 1978, to December 31, 1980), requested a further extension of the " latest completion date" pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55 (b) until June 30, 1982.
The requested extension date is fast approaching, and a decision by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board on the issuance of an operating license is pending, with no assurance that it will be issued in time to permit the staff to issue an operating license prior to the June 30, i
l 1982, date previously requested.
Therefore, prudence dictates that the " latest completion date" requested on November 26, 1980, be amended to provide a margin for potential delays beyond June 30, 1982, and thus avoid the need for further requests.
We ask that the " latest completion date" be extended to December 31, 1982, and that our request of November 26, 1980, be deemed to be amended to reflect this date.
