US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Creekside Oaks Office Park 1450 Maria Lane - Suite 260 Walnut Creek, California 94596-5368 Dear Sir
Subject:
Immediate Report of Reportable Occurrence This letter is a follow-up to a report made by C. A. Olmstead, Manager l
Technical Services, to Mr. Mike Malmros, USNRC Site Inspector, at 12:40 PM on Friday, May 14, 1982 concerning a nonconservative error discovered in the containment analyses which formed the basis for Technical Specification j
3.6.1.4.
The Technical Specification operating limit of +1.6 psig was set in April, 1977 by Amendment 13 to Trojan's operating license. PGE's license change application (LCS-16) requesting this change relied on containment analyses which assumed containment spray flow to in.:rease linearly from 0 gpm to 3000 gpm between time 0 and 52 seconds. This nonconservative assumption is inconsistent with the original FSAR analyses. This situation
>i will be evaluated further and resolved prior to entry into Mode 4 at the i
completion of the current refueling outage.
This occurrence will be reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a licensee event report in accordance with our established Technical Specifications.
Sincerely, C.
. Yundt General Manager CPY/CAO:ga c: LER Distribution File 93.24a(Q) 8205240340 920514 PDR ADOCK 05000344 i
