This refers to your letter of October 22, 1981, in response to Mr. Richard DeYoung's letter of September 24, 1981, and to the telephone discussions between Mr. Peter Moeller of your staff and Mr. James W. Devlin of this office on October 30, 1981 and Mr. A. T. Gody of this office on Fet:ruary 5,1982.
During the October 30 telephone conversation, the details of Public Service Electric and Gas Company's plans to improve management oversight of your contractor security organization were discussed. Mr. Moeller explained that implementation of the proposal outlined in Appendix C to your October 22, 1981 letter would include assignment of an additional security manager to the Salem site and of Public Service Electric and Gas Company employees to offshifts and weekends at the Salem site on a rotating basis to monitor and audit performance of the contract guard force. During the February 5 telephone discussion, Mr. Gody requested details of the schedule for implementation of the planned offshift/
weekend audit program and the schedule for assigning the additional security manager to the Salem site.
Mr. Moeller noted that the planned reorganization was underway, and that he will be the Manager, Nuclear Site Protection. He was unable to provide the implementation dates at that time. Therefore, within 30 days of the date of this letter, please provide the dates by which you plan to complete the above actions.
The response directed by this letter is not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required by the Paperwork Reduction Action of 1980, PL 96-511.
