Radiation Safety Cornerstone Significance Determination Process (SDP) Update ROP Monthly 26 February 2020 Dave Garmon, NRR SDP and Bases Documents
- Occupational Radiation Safety o Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 0609, Appendix C o IMC 0308, Attachment 3, Appendix C
- Public Radiation Safety o IMC 0609, Appendix D o IMC 0308, Attachment 3, Appendix D Issues Being Addressed
- Occupational Radiation Safety o Primarily administrative updates (e.g., references to documents, NRC organization titles etc.)
o Address staff feedback items requesting additional guidance in certain areas o No changes to thresholds or logic
- Public Radiation Safety o Administrative updates o Update references to specific requirements vs. GDC (in explanatory text) o Add consideration of use of incorrect packaging within the transportation SDP o Add method to disposition Part 37 violations Ensure SDP outcomes are commensurate with risk significance
- Provide all stakeholders an objective and common framework for communicating significance of inspection findings
- Serve as guide to inspectors in selecting risk-informed inspection samples
