San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit This letter confirms verbal notification on April 23, 1982 of a condition discovered in construction which is considered potentially reportable in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e).
The condition involves the Main Steam Dump To Atmosphere Valves.
It has been observed during testing that the valves would not return consistently to normally closed position upon loss of control air pressure as they are required to do under certain accident condit. ions.
We are performing an evaluation of this condition and will submit an appropriate report in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e)
(3) if the condition is determined to be reportable.
