This Pfl updates infonnation in a Region II Daily Report item on Apr 1;19.* -
The licensee notified Region II on April 17 of a reading of between 5 thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) used by a health physics technician working in various locations at the plant. This same individual's pocket dosimeter results indicated a whole-body dose in the range of 250 millirem.
The discrepancy in the two readings was originally thought to result from pre-irradiation of the TLD for calibration purposes and the TLD being inadvertently assigned to an employee.
Subsequent investigation by the licensee indicates that the TLD was pre-irradiated but had been reset to zero prior to being issued to the employee.
The licensee is continuing to investigate.
Region II has two radiation specialists on site reviewing the licensee's actions and is considering the matter as a potential overexposu re.
