Docket No. STN 50-482 Subj: potential 10CFR50.55(e) Report - Broken Springs on Stab Connectors
Dear Mr. Seidle:
On March 4, 1982, we advised NRC Region IV that several broken springs had been found on stab connectors in ITE/Gould 480V motor control centers.
The broken springs are made of bent spring wire and fit over the stab connectors to provide additional contact pressure. The primary contact pressure for the connectors is provided by another spring in the unit.
There have been no problems noted with these primary contact pressure springs.
Information concerning the broken springs has been received from the vendor and is being transmitted to the Architect / Engineer for evaluation and disposition. A Startup Field Report is being used to track the suspect springs. We will report the status of the evaluation and dis-position of this problem to you on or before May 7, 1982.
