Dear Mr. Jones:

SUBJECT:

TMI ACTION PLAN ITEM II.K.3.3, REPORTING RELIEF VALVE AND SAFETY VALVE FAILURES AND CHALLENGES.

We have reviewed your responses dated June 17, 1980 and December 31, 1980 to the above TMI Action Plan item. You have committed to meeting the reporting requirements provided in our previous guidance. Specifically, you agreed to report promptly any PORY or safety valve challenges and failures, and to sumarize this information in your monthly report. We have reviewed your 1981 monthly reports and note that you reported no challenges or failure; to PORV's or safety valves.

In addition, as per a telephone conversation between E. Tourigny of my staff and T. Patterson of your staff, no challenges or failures to PORV's or safety valves occurred in 1980.

Based on the above, we consider this item resolved for your facility. Since 2

we wish to formalize these reporting requirements, we will contact you in the future requesting that you administratively incorporate these reporting require-ments in your Technical Specifications.

Sincerely,

(
