BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NOS.1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 NUREG-0737, ITEM II.E.4.2 7 -CONTAINMENT PURGE VALVES
Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
By a letter dated June 30, 1981, Carolina Power & Light Company i
(CP&L) provided commitments for the completion of items required by NUREG-0737, " Clarification of TMI Action Plan Requirements" applicable to Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP).
In regard to Item II.E.4.2.7, concerning isolation of the contain-ment purge valves on high radiation signals, CP&L is participating in a generic effort as part of the GE Owners' Group to perform the required analysis. This effort is scheduled to provide generic results by April 30, 1982. Upon completion of our analysis of this item, CP&L will advise you of the results and any further action which may be necessary. As stated in our June 30, 1981 letter, the current design and procedures at Brunswick assure that use of the purge valves is limited and that reactor coolant leakage is promptly detected and appropriate actions taken.
If you have further questions concerning this item, please contact our staff.
Yours very truly, O
L. W. Eur Senior Vice President Power Supply p
