Dear Ms. Whicher:

This is in response to your letter to me of March 23, 1982, requesting copies of any correspondence between the NRC and the Department of the Interior-(or.

any other agency) concerning restoration of the Bailly site. Since it is not a party to this proceeding, DOI has not sent copies of its letters to the NRC Staff to the service list for this proceeding. The Staff did, however, send to each person on the service list by Board Notification 82-15 a copy of DOI's letter of December 23, 1981, as well as the Staff's response. As indicated in your letter, you have also received a copy of a November 20, 1981 letter from Mr. Denton, Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, to Mr. Dickenson, Director of the National Park Service. The following additional correspondence (copies of which are enclosed) has occurred between the Staff and DOI regarding plans for Bailly site restoration:

Letter dated October 20, 1981, from Mr. Denton to Mr. Dickenson, and 2.

Letter dated August 4,1981, from Mr. Dickenson to Mr. Denton.

As you indicated, the second page of the December 23, 1981, letter from Ms. Garrett, Acting Deputy Director of the National Park Service, to Mr. Denton was inadvertently not enclosed with some copies of the Board Notification. We are, accordingly, sending copies of that letter to all persons on the service list.

There has not been any correspondence between the NRC Staff and any other agency concerning Bailly site restoration. At your request, we will transmit h,
