Dear Mr. Cavanaugh:
In a continuing effort to resolve open action items, the staff has resumed the review of the lew temperatum overpressure mitigating systems for th9 Arkansas fluclear One, Unit flo.1. An evaluation of the instrumentation and control portion of this iten was performed by our consultant EG&G Idaho, Inc. The results of this evaluation tre contained in the enclosed Interin Report. The staff has reviewed this mport and we have concluded that additional modifications and Technical Specifications are needed in. order for the proposed systen to be found acceptable.
We, therefore, request that you review the enclosed report and submit infomation necessary to address the recorsnendations listed in Section 5 of the report. Provide justification for cases where you do not nect these reconnendations. Guidance on proposed Technical Specifica-tions is pmvided in Specification 3/4.10.3 of the Standard Technical Specifications for Babcock and Wilcox PWRs (flVREG-0103, Rev. 4). We would appreciate your response to this request within 90 days of your receipt of this letter.
