Dear Mr. Denton:

This letter is the fourth in a series of quarterly reports to you regarding the construction completion date for Byron Unit 1.

The Byron 1 construction and testing schedule is s till keyed to fuel loading in April 1983.

This schedule is currently being reevaluated as part a f a semi-annual budget review which is expected to be completed in June, 1982.

Although the -review process is not complete, we have concluded that it is likely the completion of the remaining contruction, preoperational testing and licensing milestones will result in a delay of the fuel load date.

No new target date for fuel loading has been established yet but it is believed that the delay in fuel load oate will probably be in the 6 to 8 month range.

The NRC will be informed as soon as new schedules have been established.

Please address further questions regarding the Byron 1 schedule to this office.

I Very truly yours, t

L.
