This refers to the management meeting held at Buchanan, New York,
on December 21 , 1976, on matters relating to activities authorized
by NRC License Nos. DPR-5, DPR-26 and DPR-64.
The meeting was attended
by Mr. E. Kessig, Acting Manager, Nuclear Generation Department;
Mr. E. McGrath, Manager, Nuclear Generation Department (Designee) and
Mr. S. Wisla, Radiation Safety Director of the Consolidated Edison
Staff and Mr. P. Knapp, Chief," Radiation Support Section and Mr. D.
Neely, Radiation Spe, !alist of my staff.
The meeting d7 alt with actions taken by Consolidated Edison with regard
to matters raised in a Region I letter (O'Reilly to Cahill) dated
November 18, 1976.
It is our view that implementation of your plan to
upgrade the Radiation Protection Program combined with other subjects
discussed in the meeting could be expected to result in an improved
program.
The subjects discussed during the meeting are included in
the Office of Inspection and Enforcement Inspection Report which is
enclosed with this letter.
'Durino the next several mtnths of inspection effort we intend to monitor
-
the progress you have made in improving your Radiation Protection Program.
Information contained in the enclosed inspection report was discussed
with Mr. E. McGrath by telephone on January 21, 1977.
It was concluded
that the inspection report contains no information which you consider to
be proprietary; therefore, a copy of this letter and its enclosures are
being placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
