Dr. 1layne H. Jens Assistant Vice President Engineering & Construction Detroit Edison Company 2000 Second Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

Dear Dr. Jens:

I am taking this opportunity to thank you for providing me and members of my staff with the recent impromptu tour of the Fermi 2 facility.

It was particularly helpful to see a BWR in a stage of construction where the core internals and pressure suppression systems were accessible.

In accord with our conversation on spent fuel storage facilities I am sending you a copy of my recent testimony on this subject before the House Connittee on Interior and Insular Affairs.

It may help you in-assessing the spent fuel storage situation in the U.S. and in considering your own spent fuel storage needs.

Thank you again for the excellent tour and your effort in organizing it on such short notice.

Sincerely, M

Harold R. Denton, Director Office of fluclear Reactor Regulation Enclosure - As stated cc: PDR 79032901%
