M84380) j By letter dated October 22, 1992, the Commonwealth Edison Company (CECO) submitted formal commitments made in response to a meeting held with the NRC staff on August 27, 1992, regarding the inoperability of the 2CM025A Post-I Accident Sampling System isolation valve.

This valve is one of six valves associated with the PASS H /0 monitors for each unit.

z 2 The staff has reviewed your submittal, and we have determined that your commitment to modify the control logic of the PASS H /0 monitoring system 2 3 isolation valves to require manual action to initiate the system is not required at this time.

The staff is currently considering a potential generic backfit regarding isolation requirements for the PASS H /0 monitoring system; 3 3 however, you will be notified if we decide to readdress this issue.

In your submittal, CECO had proposed to administratively close the associated manual isolation valve in the event of an inoperable automatic isolation valve.

ontil this issue is resolved, we believe that the manual valves should be kept open, unless closure is required for other reasons.

This will alleviate unnecessary entries into Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO)

Action Statements due to the inoperability of these valves.

This letter completes staf f actions regarding TAC Nos. M84379 and M84380.
