in the July 26,1992 Federal Register, the NRC requested comments on draft NUREG--
1465," Accident Source Terms for Light-Water Nuclear Power Plants." The information in this report provides revised accident source terms for light-water reactors (LWR) to; 4
replace those given in report TID 14844, issued in 1962. When final, these~ source-terms are to be implemented through a rulechange to 10CFR50 for use in the design _
and licensing of future light-water reactor nuclear power plants.
NUREG - 1465 does not clearly specify the application of containment: leak rate assumptions for the containment pressure analysis that would be. required for a complete licensee analysis of a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) under this guidance.
This information would be essential for an existing nuclear. plant that wanted to voluntarily adopt this process. -We suggest the NRC provide clarification on these j
points in this guidance for each type of existing containment design to identify the regulatory restrictions that would be applied in voluntary adoption.
