i APPENDIX A NOTICE OF DEVIATION Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company Docket No. 50-213 Haddam Neck Plant License No. DRP-61 During an NRC inspection conducted on May 9 through June 19, 1993, a deviation from your Updated Final Safety Analysis Report was identified. In accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Action," 10 CFR 2, Appendix C, the deviation is listed below:

The Haddam Neck Updated Final Safety Analysis Report, Section 8.3.1.1.5,

" Emergency AC Power System Description" states, in part, that when the emergency diesel generator is running in a normal non-cmergency mode, all trips remain in service and are capable of tripping the diesel generator. These trips include the generator loss of field trip.

Contrary to the above, on May 25, 1993, during a normal test run of the 'A' emergency diesel generator, the generator field was lost and the diesel generator output breaker did not trip. The licensee subsequently identified that the currently installed generator loss of field trip circuit does not trip the diesel generator during normal non-cmergency mode of operation.

Please provide the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, A'ITN: Document Control Desk, Washington, D.C. 20555, with a copy to the Regional Administrator, Region I, and a copy to the NRC Resident Inspector at the facility that is the subject of this Notice, in writing within 30 days of the date of this Notice, the reason for the deviation, the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved, the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further deviations, and the date when your corrective action will be completed. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending the response time.
