SUBJECT:

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT-PROGRAM MEETING This refers to the meeting, open to public observation, conducted at your request at your Eisenhower Nuclear Training Center'on July 14, 1993.

This meeting-related to activities authorized by NRC License NPF-42 and was attended by those on the attached Attendance List.

This meeting was held to discuss the status of the implementation of Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation's Performance Enhancement Program (PEP).

The subjects discussed in this meeting are described in the enclosed Meeting Summary.

Prior to this meeting, we had requested that the topics for discussion focus upon actions-you have taken to. implement the PEP _in addition to specific steps you have taken to improve your corrective action program.

j Although the material that you presented was informative,- it did not present I

specific actions.that have produced tangible improvements in your corrective action program. ' Based on your recent employee -survey,-it appears that you have not yet~been successful in removing the perception by many-employees that your: corrective action program lacks substance.

An NRC" corrective action team i

inspection, will-explore further your initiatives in improving corrective actions at Wolf Creek Generating _ Station.

I In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, l

Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a' copy of this letter will be placed in i

the NRC's Public Document Roor,.

j Should you have questions concerning this matter, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
