SUBJECT: REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM EVALUATION REPORT NO.
50-336/93-12 (OL-RQ)
From June 1 - 3, 1993, the NRC administered requalification examinations to thirteen
employees of your company who operate the Millstone Unit 2 Plant. Twelve of the thirteen
operators passed the written, walkthrough, and simulator portions of the examination. One
operator failed the written portion of the examination, and seven additional operators passed
the simulator portion. As a result of these evaluations, your requalification program has
been assigned an overall program rating of satisfactory in accordance with the criteria of
This evaluation addressed areas important to public health and safety ed was conducted in
accordance with Revision 7 to NUREG-1021, " Operator Licensing Examiner Standards," ES-
601, " Administration of NRC Requalification Program Evaluations." The evaluation had two
purposes, evaluating the effectiveness of the licensed operator requalification training
program at maintaining the competency oflicensed operators, and examining the individual
operators to determine if they would satisfy the regulatory rcquirement of passing an NRC-
administered examination prior to license renewal. At the conclusion of the examination, the

results of the examination were discussed with Mr. Ruth, Mr. Becker, and other members of

your staff.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and
the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
